During recent years the unit has hung its collective hat very much so on the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme. Given that the new Training Programme effectively has built into it the Bronze, Silver & Gold Duke of Edinburgh Awards, the unit Executive has decided to continue with these but also to actively pursue completion of the corresponding Scout Badges - Chief Scout's Platinum Award, Chief Scout's Diamond Award and Queen's Scout Award. It is also anticipated that the Explorer Belt will on occasions be pursued by some members of the unit.
The Executive, assisted by the Leaders, monitors progress of each unit member through the award schemes and is responsible for making the award recommendations to the Leaders. It also ensures that the programme of events planned is related to the Scout Training programme.

The Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme is open to all young people between the ages of 14 - 25, Bronze 14 and over, Silver 15 and over and Gold 16 and over. Each award is divided into four sections: Service, Expedition, Skills and Physical Recreation. For the Gold Award there is an additional section - the Residential Project. Any young person wishing to take part needs to register and obtain a record book. Only activities carried out after registering can be used to pass off parts of the award - it is once you have registered you can start to work on the award, no previous activities can be used.
Once awards have been completed, the record book must be checked by the County Advisor before the young person can be presented with their badge and certificate. For registration forms or any questions, contact your County Advisor:
